Implants May Be For You

You've watched the Makeover shows on TV. You have seen that dentistry can offer life-changing results. Dental work must function adequately under great stresses of chewing, grinding, nail-biting, etc. Dental implants, when appropriate, can offer great function and cosmetics.

Dental implants have a track record over the last four decades. To [over] simplify, a dental implant is a titanium-metal anchor in the jawbone, meant to replace the root of a missing tooth (or several teeth). On top of the implant can be placed a crown, bridge, or removable (false) teeth.

The benefits of implants can be many. They provide a natural-looking cosmetic enhancement by filling the space of a missing tooth. They provide a secure and comfortable function for replacement teeth, even stabilizing dentures. Implants can eliminate the need to grind down other natural teeth for a bridge. They help prevent deterioration of the jawbone caused by loss of teeth. Implants can give you increased confidence in laughing, smiling, speaking and eating. You will look and feel better.

Implants must be placed under certain guidelines and not every person or situation is correct for implants. Some specialists and fewer general dentists place implants. You should talk to your dentist if you are interested in a dental implant. If you are missing one tooth or more, you may greatly benefit functionally and cosmetically from dental implants.

Dental implants are not susceptible to dental caries but they can develop a periodontal condition called peri-implantitis where correct oral hygiene routines have not been followed. Risk of failure is increased in smokers. For this reason implants are frequently placed only after a patient has stopped smoking as the treatment is very expensive. More rarely, an implant may fail because of poor positioning at the time of surgery, or may be overloaded initially causing failure to integrate.

My mother has always taken good care of herself, but she recently had to have a few teeth pulled. I love that you talked about how dental implants provide a comfortable and secure option for replacing teeth. My mother would probably be a good candidate for these implants, so I am going to have to tell her about them.

I didn't realize every person is different so you should talk to your dentist about implants. My brother has lost some teeth from playing sports. We'll have to find an implant dentist.

I liked that you said that one thing to consider when you are in need of artifical teeth is to have dental implants installed since they are natural-looking. I have been thinking about getting dentures but have been worried that they would look fake. I will be sure to consider getting dental implants so that they look realistic.

My brother lost a tooth playing tug of war. It's interesting that dental implants can last over four decades depending how well they are maintained. Thank you for the information. I take my brother to a dentist so they can see if he is a candidate for dental implants.

My dad has been looking to get some implants done. It's good to see that they have been around a very long time. That is something that he'll keep in mind when deciding on what procedure to do.

It's good to know that implants can prevent jawbone degeneration. Since my grandmother has turned 60, she has always been conscious about her diet and habits, that's why she wants to make sure that her oral hygiene as well is intact. Tomorrow morning, I'll bring her to the dental clinic nearby to set a check-up date and ask for the implant service that might be done to her.

I found it interesting when you talked about dental implants are a secure option for replacement teeth. I would imagine that it requires precise measurements so that a new tooth can fit properly into the gums. It would be interesting to learn more about the process of how an implant is made.

It's good to know that implants prevent deterioration of your jawbone because I had no idea that could even happen. My husband accidentally knocked out a tooth while he was playing baseball with my daughter. We'll have to get him an implant soon before anything bad happens to his jaw.

My grandpa is thinking of getting dental implants to help with his missing front tooth and is wanting to find a service in Farmington, NM to do the procedure. It's good to know that dental implants replace the root of your lost tooth and help you to avoid grinding. I am going to visit him later today, so I'll pass on these tips to him then.

You made a great point about dental implants and what they are, a titanium-metal anchor to replace the root of a missing tooth. My husband and I are looking for a dentist that can perform this procedure on him since he lost a few teeth playing hockey. We will keep these tips in mind as we search for a professional that can help us best.

Thanks for helping me understand the benefits of dental implants. When you said that they help prevent the deterioration of the jawbone, I thought that this can help my grandpa since he's lost a lot of teeth already. I'll go ahead and let him know about dental implants and ask him if he's interested.

You mentioned an implant could replace a single tooth, or many teeth. What is the cap on too many teeth missing that dentures should be considered? My mother is missing her canines and the teeth next to them on the top. Would implants be the best way for her to go?

Wow, I hadn't realized that dental implants actually anchor onto your jaw bone. When you say it that way, that sounds totally metal! In all seriousness, though, I think I might end up getting a dental implant for a tooth I lost in a back yard brawl a while back.

Thank you for mentioning that dental implants can provide a natural-looking enhancement by filling the space where a missing tooth would be. My fiancee lost a tooth of his awhile ago and hasn't smiled with teeth since then. I really want to have quality pictures we can remember from our wedding, so I think he should look into dental implants to help his confidence.

It's interesting to hear that implants are able to help preserve bone structure if you've lost a tooth. One of my friends recently lost a tooth when he took a bad fall while he was skating. I might suggest to him that he look into getting a dental implant to replace it so that his jaw can stay intact.

I really appreciated that you said that implants need to be placed with specific guidelines and that you need to talk to your dentist to make sure that you are eligible to get some put in. I have been thinking about getting dental implants ever since I was young because I am missing some of my teeth and sometimes it makes it really hard for me to eat. Hopefully, I will find a dentist that could help me overcome this issue soon so I can have a perfect smile and be comfortable eating around other people.

It's helpful that you point out that a dental implant is a great-looking way to replace a missing tooth. My daughter lost one of her teeth playing basketball last weekend, so I'm thinking about taking her to a dentist to get a dental implant. I'm going to look for a good dental clinic in our area that does implants.

I didn't know that tooth loss can lead to the deterioration of our jawbone. My son recently lost his teeth when he was out doing parkour. I think he hit with his teeth on the concrete floor. We were wondering if dental implants are the right choice for him. Perhaps it's time we bring him to see a dentist to consider the right option for him.

I liked what you said about how a missing tooth can be replaced by an implant that will act as a normal tooth that can prevent deterioration of the jawbone. My cousin was fooling around with his kids the other day and he accidentally knocked out his oldest son's tooth. He has been thinking about getting him an implant or paying for him to get it from a professional because he feels bad about it.

Thank you for sharing that dental implants stabilize our dentures. I have a missing tooth from childhood and I am thinking of having a dental implant because I noticed my teeth moving into a bad shape. I am afraid it will affect how I look in the future. I will look for a dentist and discuss if a dental implant is a way to help me with my problem.

My son had a fall the other day and broke his tooth. It's good to know that dental implants last 40 years. I want to be sure it looks as natural as possible, so it is great to know that dental implants provide a natural-looking cosmetic enhancement. I will take him to a dentist tomorrow and see what the dentist says. Thanks for this great article!

It's awesome that you point out that dental implants can improve your self-confidence if you are missing teeth. I lost three teeth in a car accident last spring, so I'm considering going to a dental clinic to get implants. I'm going to search in my area for a reputable dentist that does dental implants.

I've always been insecure about my missing tooth, which is why I'm thinking of having dental implants instead. I agree with you that this will give me the confidence I once had. Although, it's also interesting to learn that implants will help avoid the grind down of other natural teeth.

It's valuable that you elaborate on how dental implants are a great replacement for natural teeth. My brother lost a tooth in a longboarding accident last week, so I'm thinking about recommending that he get a dental implant. I'm going to look for a good dental clinic in the area that does implants to recommend.

I was chasing after my 5-year-old son at the park yesterday in a game of tag, and I ended up tripping and running into a tree. This knocked one of my upper teeth out, and I am thinking about getting a dental implant to replace this tooth. It was interesting for me to learn that implants will prevent deterioration of my jawbone that is normally caused by missing teeth.

It's cool that you mention that dental implants can give you a better-looking smile if you are missing teeth. I lost one of my front teeth in an accident last year, so I'm considering getting a dental implant procedure. I'm going to see if there's a good dental clinic in my area that does implant procedures.

I like how you explained that a dental implant has a metal rod that imitates the root of missing teeth. My uncle lost several of his teeth in a sports accident over the weekend. I'll have to see what he knows about dental implant surgery and if he's looked into it as an option!
